FAQs

Q: Is my child old enough to play Little League?
A: Enter your player’s birthday here to determine their “league age” and see if they are old enough to play!

Q: Are there tryouts? Will everyone get to play?
A: Tryouts begin when your player is league-age 8 to be drafted to a team. Nobody is cut; everyone gets to play.

Q: What equipment do I need?
A: A hat and jersey are provided every year. Bats and catcher’s gear (including catcher’s mits) are also provided. The player’s family provides the cleats, socks, pants, cup and glove. Helmets will be available for purchase at documentation verification.

Q: Where does South Salem Little League (SSLL) play home games?
A: Home baseball games (T-Ball through 50/70) are played at Judson Middle School. Home softball games (AA-Majors) are played at Leslie Middle School.
Juniors baseball games are played at the Turner, Oregon city park off Delaney Road. Please see our fields page for maps.

Q: Does SSLL travel?
A: Travel varies each season, depending on interleague agreements. T-Ball and single A teams do not travel.
Maps to away fields can be found here.

Q: How will I know if a game is rained out?
A: We announce home field conditions at about 2 hours before a game begins (approximately 4pm weekdays) to Facebook, Twitter and our rainout phone number: 503-580-1372. Conditions of fields away from SSLL are announced by the home league.

Q: Can my kids play on the same team as their friends?
A: Accommodations can be requested during the registration process and all efforts will be made to make that happen. For levels AAA and up, players will be on the teams drafting them.

Q: How about players with special needs?
A: Check out our Challenger division!
