UMPIRES ~ MANAGERS ~ COACHES The primary mission of CAPITOL CITY UMPIRES ASSOCIATION is to train volunteer umpires for Little League. We will be conducting training classes Monday nights in February and March for anyone interested in learning Little League Baseball and Softball Rules. We are looking for men and women interested in becoming Little League baseball/softball umpires. If you have no experience, you will receive all the training necessary. If you have umpired before, this class can build your confidence and your skills. Managers and coaches are encouraged to attend to learn the newest rules and to find out why umpires are positioned where they are. - March 2 ~ Objectives of the Game ~ Chapter 1 and Game Preliminaries ~ Chapter 3
- March 9 ~ Starting/Ending the Game ~ Chapter 4 and Putting the Ball in Play ~ Chapter 5
- March 16 ~ The Umpire ~ Chapter 9
- March 23 ~ Softball Rules and Final Exam
- March 30 ~ Review of Final Exam and Awards
Field Mechanics will be held on either Saturday or Sunday. Time, day and location to be announced at each Monday night class. Location is subject to last minute changes due to weather. CLASSES WILL BE HELD AT: McKay High School 2400 Lancaster Dr NE Salem, OR 97305 Commons Room Monday nights in Feb. and March from 7pm to 9pm Field Mechanics TBA Cost: $45.00 Tuition cost is covered by some Leagues in exchange for volunteering to umpire games.
