South Salem Softball

Little League believes in the power of youth baseball and softball to teach life lessons that build stronger individuals and communities.

To grow a strong sustainable softball league in the greater South Salem area in order to make softball accessible to all girls within our boundaries. This league should be built on mutual investment from the organization (South Salem Softball), the families and players that participate, and businesses and community members looking to support youth programs locally.

To develop confident, intuitive, skilled players with a passion for the game of softball. To provide girls a community in which they feel love and belonging while learning to be responsible members of a larger community.

League Age Info

Softball League Age is the age a player is on December 31st of the year prior to the current Spring season.

Example 1: Player turns 12 years old on Dec. 31st 2024. This player's League Age is 12 for the 2025 season.
Example 2: Player turns 12 years old on Jan. 1st 2025. This player's League Age is 11 for the 2025 season.

Equipment Info

Required

• Cleats: must be molded rubber. Metal spikes are permissible for players participating in the Junior division only.
• Glove
• Bat
• Softball pants: knicker style or full length are both acceptable
• Long athletic socks
• Batting helmet, with protective face mask attached. Cheek guards are not an authorized safety mechanism. A full wire face mask is required for all SSLL softball players

Recommended

•  Defensive face mask
• Sliding shorts
• Base layer (sleeves) in team color for cold weather games
• Bat bag
  

Softball Fields

The home field for South Sprague Softball  is located at Leslie Middle School, 3850 Pringle Rd SE, Salem, OR 97302.

SSLL is a part of OR District 7 and participates in interleague play with the other District 7 leagues. Each D7 league host games at their local fields and SSLL teams may play at any of these locations.
